Acura Motorsports

Acura's commitment to performance started well before the Acura Division was founded.

Soichiro Honda, who founded Honda Motor Co., Inc., in 1948, was a racing enthusiast at heart. He steered the company into competitions early on and the racetrack has provided a training ground for engineers and designers of Acura vehicles.

A year after the company’s first road cars hit the streets in 1986, Acura Integras began showing up on race tracks, winning championships their first two years out. This commitment to performance has carried through the brands 35 year history and even today is demonstrated lap after lap, championship after championship. With their historic back-to-back IMSA Championship wins, Acura’s passion for motorsports is as strong as ever. That very same passion is infused in every Acura on the road.

As a racing enthusiast it’s been rewarding to help share this rich and exciting history with Acura’s fans and followers across multiple touchpoints. Please scroll below for a few of the Acura Motorsports projects I’ve have had the pleasure of working on these past few seasons.

Films

We created dozens of videos celebrating Acura’s involvement in all aspects of motorsports.

Track Breakdown

We created an episodic series that gave our fans and followers a deeper understanding of the tracks we’d be racing at along with some of the brands racing history at that track.

Social Content

Throughout the year (for both Acura’s organic and paid social-efforts) we create a series of social posts celebrating all things motorsports showcasing Acura’s racing past, present, and future.

The Gram Prix

We created a mobile racing game called Beat That the Game where our fans and followers could drive different Acura vehicles throughout the eras. In the video game two of cars you could drive are the new NSX and the Penske ARX-05 DPi race car. Those are the same vehicles that Acura really races in the IMSA series.

For Instagram we created a mini-campaign called Beat That the Game Champions Cup where we pitted professional Acura race car drivers, Helio Castroneves, Ricky Taylor, Mario Farnbacher, and Trent Hilnman against each other to see who was the best both on the track and in the video game.

Racing Fundamentals

A lot of Acura’s followers on social media love the brand, but admittedly might not know a lot about racing. We created a series of videos that helped explain elements of motorsports in an entertaining way to educate those folks on racing fundamentals.

IMSA Explained

Continuing our efforts of educating Acura’s followers about the brands history in motorsports we created a social-first episodic content series titled IMSA Explained. During the season we launched videos where experts in their respective fields explained different aspects of racing in an easy to understand way.
